Minimum qualifications
1. Experience in domain knowledge of automotive BIW/INT/EXT/Chassis components
A strong understanding is required in:
• BIW/Closure structures, chassis systems, platform concepts, crash energy management, interior/exterior/seating structures, basic vehicle layout and packaging requirements, and regulatory requirements.
• Sheet metal material grades, resin material specifications, and part design requirements in relation to assembly, manufacturing processes, and value engineering.
• Manufacturing processes for sheet metal parts, plastic components, and chassis components, as well as the requirements for part development.
• Solid understanding of the automotive product development cycle (experience with PLM tools is a plus).
2. General Requirements:
• Proficiency in using CATIA for surfacing, part design, and drafting.
• Awareness of vehicle regulation-related constraints.
• Knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes.
• Coordination with onsite and offshore teams for work management.
• Basic understanding of project schedules, milestones, targets, and their management.

Nice to have skills
• Knowledge and understanding of basic vehicle structure and layout.
• Strong working knowledge of MS Office.
• Basic knowledge of supplier communication, part sourcing, material selection, cost estimation, and interdepartmental communication.
• Knowledge of the automotive industry from design to SOP (Start of Production).
• Basic understanding of hybrid or full electric vehicle components (especially underbody components).
• Experience working within a Japanese cultural and professional environment.
Position Overview
This role is focused on mechanical design and development across various vehicle domains, including Body in White (BIW), Interior, Exterior, and Chassis components. You will be contributing to platform design for ICE (Internal Combustion Engine), hybrid, and electric vehicles (EV), ensuring that the layout, packaging, and regulatory requirements are met. The position involves working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver comprehensive vehicle designs that align with project milestones and specifications.
About the Department
This department is responsible for mechanical design in vehicle design and development across all domains, including BIW (Body in White), Interior, Exterior, ADAS, Chassis, Brake, Layout & Packaging, and Engine and Powertrain development.
About the Project
The project involves platform design and development for ICE (Internal Combustion Engine), hybrid, and EV (Electric Vehicle) vehicles. The focus is on integrating knowledge of various vehicle domains such as BIW, Interior, Exterior, and Chassis components to create a cohesive vehicle structure that meets the performance, safety, and regulatory requirements. This role requires a deep understanding of vehicle layout, packaging, and structural integration across different vehicle types (ICE, Hybrid, EV).

• Schedule management and achieving project milestones.
• Coordination between onsite and offshore teams.
• Leading cross-functional teams (CFTs) and conducting design reviews in Japanese or English, as required.
