We are looking for an experienced Editor / Copywriter to join our dynamic agency. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented content professional who wants to work at a leading marketing agency in Japan and play a central role in both editorial and creative content production.

In this role, you’ll work on the media side of the agency, focusing on creating content for GoConnect and Japan Luxury Lifestyle (JLL), our owned lifestyle and luxury platforms that serve the international community in Japan, and INTOUCH, the membership magazine for the Tokyo American Club. You’ll write and edit articles, manage interns and freelance contributors, and help shape GoConnect’s editorial direction.

You’ll work on exciting creative services projects, including website copy, branded campaigns, and corporate event content and manage the agency's internal marketing content, such as our monthly newsletter, blog, and social media posts. From time to time, you’ll assist with proofreading and editing client content, including reports, presentations, and digital assets.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in marketing content creation, and a knack for producing high-quality written material across various platforms. You will need to be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. This role is ideal for someone who has a strong editorial background and wants to grow their career in Tokyo’s international marketing and media industry.

At least 3+ years of professional experience as a copywriter, content editor, or journalist, ideally within an agency or media company.
Native English speaker with excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Understanding of the Japanese market, culture, and nuances is a significant advantage.
A keen interest in Tokyo culture, business, and lifestyle.
Familiarity with digital marketing content for the Japanese market, including SEO, GEO (generative experience optimization, using AI tools to tailor and enhance user experiences at scale), audience targeting, and engagement strategies.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established company processes.
Proactive problem solver with creative thinking and sound judgment.
Proficiency with AI tools. Technologically adept, with experience using content management and project management tools.
Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to shift between editorial, creative, and client-focused tasks as needed.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a positive and goal-oriented mindset.

Plan, write, and edit original articles for GoConnect and JLL, covering lifestyle, culture, events, interviews, and promotional content.
Manage and mentor freelance writers and interns contributing to GoConnect and JLL.
Write and edit content for client-facing creative projects including websites, events, campaigns, and promotional materials.
Write sponsored content for INTOUCH, the membership magazine of the prestigious Tokyo American Club.
Develop and manage internal content for Custom Media’s marketing channels, including monthly newsletter, social media posts (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook), and blog articles on digital marketing trends in Japan.
Edit and proofread a range of client copy, from technical reports to product descriptions and social media campaigns.
Conduct interviews and research to produce insightful and relevant content.
Utilize AI tools for ideation and content enhancement while maintaining high standards of original writing with a human touch.

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
