Abbeal is hiring a backend-leaning Full-Stack Engineer for a large Japanese fintech in Tokyo. Java 21 and Spring Boot first, Vue.js 3 second, some Kotlin, Docker and CI/CD. English-speaking team, no Japanese required. Permanent contract with Abbeal Japan or freelance. Tokyo, hybrid. Start as soon as possible, long-term engagement. Compensation competitive, aligned with the Tokyo market and your experience, discussed at the first call.

You join the team that builds and runs the internal back-office platform: the tools employees use every day to manage users, merchants and their data. The team works in English, the product is used by people across the company, and you own features end to end, from the backend service to the screen.

In order of priority:
- Currently based in Japan (Tokyo area) with valid work authorization, no relocation or visa sponsorship from overseas for this role
- Java and Spring Boot: solid production experience, this is the first criterion
- Vue.js (3 ideally), or real willingness to work on the frontend side
- Kotlin: a plus
- Docker and CI/CD (Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Jenkins or similar): a plus
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, autonomous, product mindset
- Business-level English. Japanese is a plus, not a requirement
- Available quickly

- Build and evolve backend services in Java 21 and Spring Boot 3, in a microservice architecture (BFF pattern)
- Develop the frontend of the internal tools with Vue.js 3
- Contribute to the parts of the codebase written in Kotlin
- Work with Docker, Kubernetes, ArgoCD and Jenkins to ship safely, with SonarQube quality gates on every PR
- Own your features: talk with product managers and internal users, clarify needs, follow them to production
- Take part in Scrum ceremonies, code reviews, unit, integration and regression testing
