Aurora Energy Research - Intern - Translator
Summary

This exciting opportunity is an internship where you will contribute to the firm by translating documents. You will be part of a fast-growing team in Japan within the broader APAC team. Aurora Japan’s quarterly research products & reports are planned months in advance so there will be clear line of sight on when the primary translations are required, allowing easy planning around other commitments / study etc.

The successful applicant will combine a complete grasp of English and Japanese language (written and spoken) and with an interest in the energy sector.

The position suits an academic, undergraduate or PhD student looking to take on an additional role with flexible working.

A full-time role combining both translation and work as an Analyst within Aurora’s Research/Advisory team is also an opportunity for the right candidate.

Key Qualifications

•Fluency in both Japanese (N1 level/Native level) and English (TOEIC 800+/C1)
• Excellent proof-reading skills with the ability to identify grammar, spelling and
punctuation errors
• Excellent time-management skills
• Logical thinking ability
• Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
• Strong communication skills to accurately understand and convey information
• Ability to think independently and execute tasks
• Teamwork skills, including collaboration with other departments
• An interest in energy markets is desirable but not required

Responsibility

• Translating a few slides in three to four, 100–200-page documents per quarter from English to Japanese, maintaining their original meaning and tone.
• Translating a small number of ad hoc, shorter documents from English to Japanese throughout each quarter.
• Work closely with our Japan team, translating or reviewing a small number of short (100 word) social media posts (LinkedIn, Twitter etc.) from English to Japanese.
• Develop an understanding and grasp of key energy market terms and concepts.
• Support the team with ad hoc qualitative and quantitative research projects.
